Recovering from C

This is an extract from an email I received from a friend recently. It is not my own personal experience but that of my friend.

 I was diagnosed with a rare form of malignant brain cancer called Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) in June 13 after experiencing seizures while preparing for a marathon run. The median life expectancy for GBM patients is 14 months. I had surgery to remove the tumour (about 85% of it as the remaining was inaccessible) and radiation and chemotherapy. In December 2013 after 4 rounds of “TEMOZOLOMIDE” chemotherapy
my scan showed that the tumour was growing back (despite surgery, radiation and chemotherapy). I was then transferred to second line chemotherapy which wasn’t going to cure me but as a palliative measure i.e. (to keep me comfortable for as long as possible)

In September 2014 the MRI scan showed that this chemo had also completely failed as the tumour had now spread to the other side of the brain and was quickly spreading.
My consultants didn’t have any alternative helpful options; any other treatment may either give me a couple months (if that) or expedite my journey to the end due to the toxic effects of the chemotherapy.
At this point we decided to travel to India for homeopathy treatment on a recommendation from a colleague whose father (75 years of age) had cancer which had spread to the bones and brain and he had been sent home for lack of any other treatment options. He then recovered with treatment from Dr Bhat$%^$ and one year on is doing quite well.

With no other option, in October 2014 we travelled to Delhi and started the treatment. It has now been nearly 6 months since I last had chemotherapy. Under conventional treatment I would not have survived to write this email today. In the last few months I have seen definite improvement in my health, whilst it is slow it is very real.

Super Foods

Superfoods are not just those found in the Himalays or the Amazon rain forest but also all vegetables and fruits found locally. Only difference is that they are not exotic sounding or easy to market at a high price.

In my opinion all items mentioned on this chart are Super Foods: full of antioxidants, vitamins, fiber , sugars, essential fats and nutrients . I refer to this list whenever I go out shopping for groceries.

Standard cure: medicines, stents and bypass surgery

If you are ever admitted to hospital then remember no one will advise you or even offer you the choice of lifestyle changes. At best lifestyle changes will be advised as something complementary to heart surgery. If you survive all credits go to the doctor. If you do not survive then it was your own fault.

Hemp seeds

I have added yet another seed to my list of ingredients that I blend in my smoothie every morning. List is now flaxseed, sunflower, sesame and hemp.

Why hemp seeds? I know this may sound a little bit crazy but hemp seeds are said to be very good for your health in many ways.

  • Hemp seeds contain all 9 essential amino acids
  • They also contain essential fatty acids Omega 6 and Omega 3 in a ratio of 3:1. Body requires a 3:1 or 4:1 balance of Omega 6 to Omega 3 for good health.
  • Cause no allergic reactions ( I can not validate this myself as I am not allergic to nuts or seeds.)
  • Contains Vitamin E

Hemp seeds improve the immune system, dry skin condition, cardiovascular circulation and reduce many symptoms of muscle and joint pains. Definitely a super food to add to the list and have in house.

Astragalus, wheatgrass and kelp powder

I have recently added three new ingredients to my smoothie : astragalus, wheatgrass and kelp.What are these powders good for?

Astragalus is claimed to stop the aging process, heal wounds and control sugar in diabetics. TA-Lab produces a quite expensive product name TA-65. Google TA-65 if you are interested. If you do try it then I would love to hear from you if it loves up to the claims they make.

Wheatgrass is ideal for balancing the body’s ph-value. Ideally the blood should be slightly alkaline, a ph- value of about 7.2. Wheatgrass is also claimed to slow down aging, increase red and white blood cells, detoxify liver and colon, help with digestion and many beauty benefits. Again google wheatgrass.

Kelp, a seawood, contains iodine. Common table salt comes with added iodine. So if you are cutting own on salt then you are also cutting down on iodine. Idoine is good for regulating the thyroid and pituary gland. Thyroid is responsible for regulating a strong metabolism and normal body temperature. So if you are avoiding salt then you should consider taking kelp.

After a month of taking these powders I am not yet able to confirm any of these benefits but that maybe due to the fact that my body is already in a good healthy state.

Eye test March 2013

One year after my previous eye test when the results showed a defintive improvement in both eyes: from -4.0 to -2.75. This time I had hoped to see further improvement.

Well there were small changes to be seen but on the whole the change was not enough to shout about. In any case it was not getting worse. Reason to continue with diet and eye exercises and I will see what happens in spring of 2014.

Tasty Indian recipes – low fat

Two new recipes added, Cauliflower with potatoes and Lady Fingers (see Recipes Page). All my recipes are low fat: either coconut oil or olive oil.
I use one teaspoon coconut oil in a recipe for four persons to saute the onions or stir fry vegetables. To ensure the food does not stick to the pan add some water, one or two tablespoons.

I hope you will enjoy all the recipes. Feel free to adjust the amount of spices added to meet your taste.
